The 5! : 5 Best sniping spots on Wasteland ( Modern Warfare 2 ) [ Issue 1 ]

‘The 5!’ This is sort of a weekly top five post, that will range across as many game’s as possible helping players improve their playing styles. This week ‘The 5!’ will being covering the Best ( well in my opinion ) sniping spots in the map Wasteland from Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2.

1. TK Baha

The spot highlighted with the green circle  is a personal favorite.  It’s a great place to get First Blood if you spawn near it and as it is one of the few buildings in this map that isn’t destroyed, the walls provide good cover from enemy fire and even just lets you stay out of sight.  The great thing about this spot is that it allows you to have a view of three high traffic areas, highlighted by the red circle.  Enemies passing these area are vulnerable to your fire as there are many positions in the house for you to fire from and still remain hidden, for example there are two or three windows in the house that you seen out of but often the enemy cannot see in when they are at a distance.  It is wise to have a Tactical insertion or Claymore equipped whilst holding up this building.  The best position for the tactical insertion to be placed is either up the stairs beside the back door or somewhere outside but near the house hidden in the long grass.  It is also advisable to occasionally move from the house and lay in the grass outside to let enemies think you’ve been rushed out of the house.

2. Claiming Sanctuary

Again like the number one, the green circle is the spot and the red one’s are view points. This spot is another great spot although it does not have the cover and safety as the first spot mentioned it still has the great view points of high traffic areas of the map and as it is not in a building you have the freedom to move about in the area freely while still have a good view of what’s going on around you. This spot is also a great defender spot as the most northerly red circle on the map is close to one of the points in Domination and is where the flag is located in Capture the Flag, I think. Tts been a while since I played CTF on Wasteland. It may also be where the bomb is placed in Search and Destroy. Anyway, this is also a good sniping spot because if you become overwhelmed by enemies whilst sniping you can retreat back to the old  temple sort of building behind you, although you cannot get inside, bushes outside of it can keep you hidden from passing enemies.

3. Chopper, sick balls!!

Now onto number 3, this is a great spot for stopping off at for a little while picking off a fews jucks then moving on. It’s also a good spot to lose anyone following you by running in between or jumping over the wreckage of cars then turning around and attempting a quick-scope on them. For the more skilled sniper this spot is also good for great uber long shots at enemies passing by at marked point of the map. The other view points you have from here are the one of enemies coming out of the bunker and running between the hedge and blown up house, and basically everywhere in between them two points.

4. Spetsnaz to the left of me, Rangers to right, here I am  stuck in the middle with you.

Right, this spot is for the sniper who just isn’t the full deck of cards or has mad sneaking skills, it sticks you right in the middle of the action with little or no cover. It gives you five enemy view points, so your spoiled for choice on this one. The best way to stay alive here is to either dart back and forward from the marked spot to the southern hedge quick scoping as many enemies as possible. However the more stealth option here is to stick a silencers on your sniper and lay in the long grass waiting for your victim to come to you and then popping up and popping him. A tip for this method of killing is to keep looking down the sights for a few seconds after the kill so the enemy can not work out your position from his killcam.

5. Hedge hog

This spot seems the most difficult to hold but in fact it’s probably the easiest if you just stick to the hedge and whenever you see an enemy stop because if you see him, more than likely he see;s you and by stopping the gillie suit comes into playing and blends you with the tree line giving you the opportunity to take him out. The key to getting the best out of this spot is to patrol up and down the hedge line, this is shown by the green line in the picture and simply kill anyone you see. You have six view points here so basically you can see everyone at the east side of the map. Also you can occasionally toss a grenade or Semtex into the bunker and clear it out.

Whilst using these Sniping spots its a good idea to use perks such as Scavenger Pro, Cold Blooded Pro and Ninja Pro so you can stay hidden and you’ll never be short of ammo. The UAV, Harrier and Chopper Gunner and also good killstreaks to use.
